Climbing in the Leogang mountains.
The hotel Riederalm in Leogang also passionate climbers will get their money! From the starting point Passau hut can be reached in just 5 to 20 minutes 24 climbing routes from 3rd to 8th of difficulty. A true climbing paradise.
Via ferrata North
The difficulty levels in the "Leoganger Süd" via ferrata route range from C-D. This is a very demanding via ferrata route with considerable sections of climbing in terrain which is partly very steep. The cliff height is some 220m, with a climbing length area some 360m
- Getting here/Ascent: In the town of Leogang there is a junction close to the church which proceeds north (signposted ‘Passauerhütte’). From here follow the signposts to the car park at Passauerhütte.
- Ascent: from Passauer Hütte it takes around 15 minutes via the Hochtor beneath the southern flanks of the Fahnenköpfel. From the valley via the standard route (No. 623) to Passauer Hütte and at the Hochtor (approx. 1900m altitude) head east to the entrance area (2 hours).
- Descent: Descent recommended via "Klettersteig Nord" (B,C)
Via ferrata South
The difficulty levels in the "Leoganger Nord" via ferrata route range from B-C. This is a challenging via ferrata over steep cliff sections, which are interspersed with lovely rest areas.
The cliff height is around 160m, with a climbing length area some 270m
- Getting here/Ascent: In the town of Leogang there is a junction close to the church which proceeds north (signposted ‘Passauerhütte’). From here, follow the signposts until you get to the car park at Passauerhütte. (Car park is near the town of Ullach)
- Ascent: From Passauer Hütte it is around 10 minutes to get to the entrance. From the valley head via the standard path (No. 623) to Passauer Hütte and to the entrance (2 ½ hours).
- Descent: same route back, there is no footpath for the descent. Descent via the "Leoganger Süd" via ferrata route is not possible!
