My perfect winter holiday...

Are you a person who can really look forward to something? Who is so excited about something beautiful that his heart almost jumps out of his chest? Sometimes I feel like it - actually every year - when I think of my next winter holiday at the Good Life Resort in Leogang! 

I love the sound of crunching snow under my shoes, the fresh mountain air that I literally soak up inside myself. The contrast to life in the city or in the lowlands could not be greater - and yet it is always a bit like coming home, finally arriving! The anticipation could then turn into a longer daydream - the dream of a perfect vacation day that can become reality in Leogang...

On my perfect day at the hotel I prefer to be the first at the breakfast buffet, enjoy scrambled eggs, prepared by senior manager Friedl himself, crispy bread, fresh fruits and hot coffee. 

In the ski room I put on the warmed up ski boots before going straight out onto the piste through the 'back door'. All I need to do is strap on the skis, take a few turns in the freshly prepared piste and I have already reached the valley station of the Asitzbahn mountain lift. I got my skis perfectly 'waxed' the day before at the ski rental right next to the hotel. And if you're lucky now, you'll be with the first mountain riders and enjoy a descent on the freshly prepared piste - with a view of the Leoganger Steinberge mountains, whose peaks are already glittering in the sun. I could imagine that a real Pinzgau native like Friedl would happily make a 'Juchizer' (shouting with joy) at such moments. I can't even do 'Juchizen', but the great feeling that you feel during the descent, you just have to experience it!

Every year I want to see if there is something new that should give us holiday-makers perfect days. Since last winter, there has been a new orientation system for the entire ski circuit. All winter sports enthusiasts receive up-to-date information on all entry areas, for example piste and lift status as LED display or an overview of the entire area, divided into alphanumeric zones. I think that’s great, because even if I’ve been in the ski circuit many times before, the countless kilometres of pistes - to be precise no less than 270 km - I can rely on the smart piste guidance system in any weather simply and safely and above all enjoyably. The new ALPIN CARD Navigator App makes orientation even easier as a little icing on the cake, because the app takes mobile and digital directions to the desired destination via all mountains and descents.

Shouldering skis is so yesterday! Good news for all those who do not like to carry skis and snowboards, but prefer to carve casually and directly in front of the valley station. The ski connection between the Bernkogel (piste 146) to the A1+A2 Schattberg X-press will mean a great comfort improvement for all winter sports enthusiasts from next winter. The roughly 6 to 10 metre wide ski path leads through a 25 metre long underpass and over a whole length of 300 metres from the piste 146, just above the G1 Bernkogel gondola valley station, directly to the parking lot of the A1+A2 Schattberg X-press.

Even away from the hustle and bustle of the pistes, people have given a lot of thought. The popular  SAALFELDEN LEOGANG CARD  is also available in winter. This is a great offer - every guest of the Riederalm receives the card for the duration of their stay and can use many extras. Non-skiers, for example, can use the card to redeem a free uphill and downhill trip with the Asitz or Steinberg gondola per stay. And for those interested in culture there is free admission to the local history museum Schloss Ritzen and the mining and Gothic museum in Hütten. In addition, I think it is great that I can participate in the high-contrast winter programme with the Saalfelden Leogang Card. I've always wanted to do a snowshoe hike in deep snow-covered winter landscapes!

In general, winter in Saalfelden Leogang can be enjoyed to the fullest even far from the prepared pistes. From winter hiking through the scenery covered with glittering snow, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides to endless cross-country trails - we are only 5 kilometres from the Hochfilzen cross-country mecca - and ice skating or fun tobogganing - almost everything is possible here. You could even take a ski jump course...

But then I have to put some things off until the next holiday, because after an extremely active day on the slopes I am really positive and enjoy the warmth of the thermal pool in the hotel before I treat myself a sauna infusion with sauna master Hans. He provides me again with many tips about the right sauna - even the one or other insider tip for the holiday design can be enticed from him. I like to finish the late afternoon in the pine relax cube. The view of the Leoganger mountain massif repeatedly takes my breath away. 

Deeply relaxed I now look forward to an exquisite gourmet menu from Jeunes restaurateur d'europe Andi Herbst. But before that, I would like to finally take part in the popular torch hike with Friedl. All the guests were always raving about it and I've been looking forward to it for so long. During the hike through the darkness - only the torches provide warm light - I soak up the silence and nature in me. Simply perfect as a counterbalance to the often stressful everyday life.

Now I think I've just sighed loudly for all the anticipation... oh, if it were only winter...
