Saalach Valley High Road & Summer Toboggan Run
The "Salachtaler Höhenweg" is one of the most beloved hiking trails
Saalachtal altitude trail
Duration: approx. 5 hours
Wonderful high-altitude hike for the whole family with summer toboggan run highlight at the end.
From the top station of the Asitz lift (right next to our house) you hike in a westerly direction to the Kleiner Asitz (1,880 m) and then to the Großer Asitz (1,914 m, summit cross). From the Großer Asitz you also have a fantastic view of the Hohe Tauern, the Kaisergebirge, the Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge, the Watzmann and the Steinerne Meer. On trail no. 30 over the Geierkogel (1,853 m) you follow to the Lochalmköpfl, further to the Haidbergkopf and the Durchenkopf (1,764 m, summit cross) to the Durchenkopfhütte. From then begins the steep descent over the grassy ridge to the Brunnalm and the Biberg (Berggasthof Biberg). Descent to the Huggenbergalm and from there with the summer toboggan run into the valley.
The Saalachtaler Höhenweg can also be hiked in a westerly direction, i.e. in the direction of Spielberg. You will then reach the Spielbergalmen and can hike to the Unterberghaus (Knappenstube with mine).
